As she held back tears Hollywood’s newest and most deserving darling Lupita Nyong’o gave an eloquent and gracious speech after accepting her Academy Award for “Best Supporting Actress” in Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave.” Lupita has taken the film industry and fashion world by storm, she is the complete package. Her sophistication, beauty, elegance and intellectual prowess make her an idol and an icon.
“Thank you to the Academy for this incredible recognition. It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s. And so I want to salute the spirit of Patsy for her guidance. And for Solomon, thank you for telling her story, and your own. Steve McQueen, you charge everything you fashion with the breath of your own spirit. Thank you so much for putting me in this position. It has been the joy of my life. I’m certain that the dead are standing about you and watching and they’re grateful and so am I. Chiwetel, thank you for your fearlessness, and for how deeply you went into telling Solomon’s story. Michael Fassbender, thank you so much, you were my rock, Alfre and Sarah, it was a thrill to work with you, Joe Walker, the invisible performer in the editing room, thank you … I want to thank my family for your training, and the Yale school of Drama as well for your training. My brother Junior sitting by my side, thank you so much, you are my best friend, and Ben, my other best friend, my chosen family. When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that, no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” – Lupita Nyong’oPosted in Awards and Premiers | Tagged 12 Years a Slave, Academy Awaards 2014, acceptance speech, Lupita Nyong'o, transcript | Leave a comment
Wow wow wow. Academy Award nominee and hot-hot-hot Kate Hudson was perfection in an Atelier Versace Spring 2014 gown and Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ Sandal. Jessica Lange, is officially the face of the Marc Jacobs Beauty’s new campaign. The brand announced their new spokeswoman via Twitter. At 64, the Academy Award winner and American Horror Story Coven star was radiant in a peach toned lip and smokey eye in the company’s press release. The announcement follows breaking news that 68 year old Charlotte Rampling is the new face of NARS. While Marc Jacobs and NARS can be commended for broadening the concept of beauty, I have to recognize M.A.C. Cosmetics for taking the lead by recognizing a woman’s beauty at every age. The M.A.C. Cosmetic Icons Collection was one of my all time favorite beauty campaigns. The Icon Collection represented women with both iconic beauty and a lifetime of experience featuring Diana Ross, Raquel Welch, Catherine Deneuve and 99 year old Iris Apfel. We are evolving people, there is beauty in numbers – beauty is ageless!Celeb, Eye, Lips | Tagged ad campaign, age discrimination, Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Rampling, cosmetics, Diana Ross, Icons, Iris Apfel, Jessica Lange, MAC cosmetics, Marc Jacobs, nars, Raquel Welch | Leave a comment
There was no lack of talent or beauty on the 2014 NAACP Awards red carpet, tonight new comer Naomie Harris took natural beauty to another level. Here is how to get her glamorous red carpet look:
Mimic Naomie’s radiant makeup by applying a foundation throughout the skin with a sponge. Stipple onto the skin then blend through the face. Applying a cream cheek hue and blush onto the apples of the cheeks will give your complexion a radiant boost. Blend cheek stain heavily in a circular motion, leaving no streaky lines. Use a fluffy powder brush to blend the color throughout the cheeks.
Apply a soft layer of shimmering eyeshadow along the eyelid, add eyeliner, a band of false eye lashes and a blanket of mascara over the natural eyelash to achieve this alluring eye.
The lips are the simple! Apply a nude lipstick throughout the lips. Blend a soft pink lipgloss to top off this simple yet sexy look.Posted in Awards and Premiers, Cheek, Eye, Lips, Make up, Show Me!, Skin | Tagged 2014, NAACP Awards, Naomie Harris | Leave a comment
