Deep eyebrows frame the eyes. Start with a dark brown, brow powder or deep brown eye brow pencil throughout the brown line to emphasize a heavy dark eye. Apply a black eyeshadow base to the rim of the upper and lower eyelids, blend the eyeshadow base with a deep, dark black eyeshadow along the upper and lower lash lines. Extend eyeshadow throughout the upper eye lid and into the crease. Add eye liner to the inner rims of the upper and lower eye lids to accentuate the moody look. A thick coat of black mascara should seal the deal. * Makeup tip. When eye makeup is extreme, lips and cheeks should be minimal in color to balance the extreme eye.

This week marked the 42nd annual Met Gala. Just in case you thought this event was just a red carpet overflowing with celebs, it is! The red carpet was on fire, celeb after celeb. Some got the memo, and obviously some didn’t! Let’s just say there is more to punk than a faux-hawk and winged liner ( wrong era anyway) punk is not a tea length dress and punk is not candy pink. When I think of punk, I think downtown NYC, the 80′s, the second British invasion, Debbie Harry, and Sid Vicious. So which celeb (and glam squad) took the theme and ran with it? My picks are here.

La Lopez, is beauty on another level. Hello, represent for your 40+ crowd, you put the gals in their 20′s and 30′s to shame.  The hair, a modern take on the Flock of Seagulls – DONE! The makeup was modern, fresh and perfect for the occasion, she let the gown do the talking. Anne Hathaway, take me away! The blonde hair is perfectly, punk perfection! Her alabaster skin is so 80′s Soho I can just imagine seeing her creep out of some shady, downtown club just as the sun is rising. Kristen Stewart, perfectly androgynous hair set the mood and nothing says punk like colored eyeshadow. Jessica Biel paid tribute to the era with a nose ring, gently contoured cheeks and slick hair. Way to work it! Mrs. Timberlake made my list because she was creative – that’s what matters. Gwen Stefani is modern punk, enough said. Giselle served us sexy punk, dressed in chains links, an asymmetrical, black mini dress, and wildly sexy hair. While another super model, Anja Rubik served a severe, shadowy cat eye, disheveled blonde hair and leather mini with a deep v-neck, double breasted collar, adorned with chains- sexy punk.

In the end some did punk better than others, some missed the mark, and some hit the nail on the head. Who was your favorite?
