The 2012 Olympic games were nothing short of amazing. World records were broken, Team USA took home a record 104 gold medals and of course there was the controversial hair situation. I am proud to be an American and proud to be part of the world community who celebrated their homeland’s wins, losses and triumphs and defeats.
The closing ceremonies that peaked my attention. While the ceremony opened with Prince Harry the world’s most eligible bachelor, we watched the winning athletes walk carrying medals and flags from their home lands. The ceremony spectacular closed with the passing of the Olympic torch to the 2016 Olympic hosts, Rio de Janiero. We were treated to performances by London’s legends both legendary and cheeky. From John Lennon to Freddie Mercury, Annie Lenox to George Micheal even the Spice Girls made the closing ceremonies a get up and dance in your living room kind of party.
The Twitterverse went bananas over #TeamSupermodel and so did I! The most famous models in the world with the longest careers have come from Great Britan. As a kid I was skinny, awkward, totally insecure and let’s not forget gawky. So I thank beauty icons like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell for being leggy, rail thin, black, unapologetic and plain old bad girls! As these fierce and fabulous supermodels walked the catwalk on the world’s biggest stage I thought, “You betta work Brit!” and they did!
